Equipment

St John the Evangelist recording
"I was particularly pleased with the sonics on this recording, clear and crisp with just a bit of ambience around the instruments to give them color."

Artmusiclounge
I use high-end professional equipment, some of which is detailed below. It has been chosen because it captures the sound without colouration to create the truest sound of a performance. The choice and placement of the microphones for each recording is determined by the style of the performance, the combination and position of instruments and the particular characteristics of the acoustic.
I own Schoeps, DPA, Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Marshall and Røde microphones. However if you have a preference for a particular microphone that I do not currently own then I can arrange to hire extra items for your recording.  The microphones feed into a Millennia preamp, which is renowned for its clarity, a Neve preamp, used in many famous recording studios such as Angel or Air Studios, or an Audient preamplifier and then into a Lynx converter.  I record into ProTools 11 and the system can record at 24 bit up to 192kHz.
If it would be helpful to have further information about the equipment I use then please contact me.

Neve 4081 Microphone Preamplifier
“I recorded a flute, violin and voice with it and the quality of sound was incredible. The recordings I was able to achieve had an “immediate” quality to them with an incredible depth of sound – I won’t be recording anything without the 4081 as the front end from now on.”

The sound is great -- sweet, refined, full of dynamics - fabulous on grand piano.

After using the Lynx Aurora for several weeks, I have no doubt that it is one of the finest sounding A/D and D/A boxes in existence today.
